Guides

Our hunting areas are excellent and produce great animals every year, but as many of you know, a guide can make or break a hunt!  Our guides are knowledgeable and experienced and though the hunting area may be the same we structure the hunt around the hunter.  All of our guides are bowhunters, even though the majority of the hunters we take are rifle, it is nice to know your guide has the know how to close the gap and provide a good shooting opportunity.

robertRobert Johnson

Fishing/Hunting Guide
Soldotna, AK

Robert is a long time Alaskan Resident who spends his summers fishing the Kenai and Kasilof rivers in both a Drift and power boat. Robert has over 20 years experience guiding and takes many of our groups out since our river boats only fish 4 people at a time. Robert is also a licensed Assistant Guide and takes a client or two out from year to year. He spends his off seasons hunting and working as a Cross Country Skiing Consultant.

Many of you know, but for those of you who don’t, we lost Robert in January of 2010 while him and I were on a sheep hunt. He was like a brother to me and on that day I didn’t lose a friend, I lost part of me. To say he will be missed is a severe understatement. We love you Robert and you are forever in my heart and soul. Thank you for all the incredible memories.

Hunting Guide

Sandy is a life long Alaska resident and from an early age spent the majority of his free time hunting, fishing, and trapping. The majority of his bear hunting experience has been on Kodiak, where he worked as a packer and eventually a guide. He has personally harvested moose, sheep & caribou, as well as brown and black bears. He really enjoys horseback hunts and has worked with horses from a young age.

His most memorable hunt was a combination sheep/caribou/grizzly horseback hunt along the Alaska/Yukon border.

Though young and with the nickname “Baby Face”, he is a great woodsman, hell of a trapper and a damn good guide.

Many of you recognize Charlie from fishing with me or packing on hunts.  Charlie started with me in 2011 and worked as a deckhand and a packer on Goat, Moose, Black Bear and primarily Brown Bear hunts.  After putting in his 3 years he got his guide license and is now guiding both hunts and charters for ATO.  Charlie is pictured with his personal bear here.  In the off season Charlie guides waterfowl in Alaska and California.
